Modcloth Dresses

I'm loving a lot of Modcloth dresses right now. These would be my top 5 favorites:

Perfect for a Summer Wedding: Windy City Dress ($64.99) - classic and flowy.

Perfect for Work: Soda Fountain Dress in Ginger ($44.99) - a fun shirt dress for a business casual workplace.

Perfect for a Summer Picnic: Lemonade at Lunch Dress ($49.99) - just pure love.

Perfect for Date Night: See What Develops Dress ($83.99) - elegant, but fun.

Perfect for Baking: Blooming Brush Strokes Dress ($64.99) - maybe it's not an apron, but I think anyone would look cute baking in this floral dress.

What is your favorite Modcloth dress?

Best and Worst of Golden Globes

My top 5 favorite gowns at the Golden Globes:

Kate Winslet (Yves Saint Laurent) - by far my favorite dress. Simple and elegant, and I love the detail on the belt. She looked gorgeous and I was happy to see her win!

Penelope Cruz (Armani Prive) - I don't think the photo does this dress justice. It looked amazing on the red carpet!

Tina Fey (Roberto Cavalli) - as I watched her give her acceptance speech, I was amazed once again by how good she is at what she does. This dress looked great on her, I just love the neckline.

Kate Beckinsale (J. Mendel) - just a beautiful dress.
Anne Hathaway (Armani Prive) - looking good, as usual, in a classic dress
My 5 least favorite:
There really weren't many dresses that I thought looked awful this year. But if I had to place a few at the bottom of the list, these would be my picks.

Renee Zellweger (Carolina Herrera) - I usually like her picks, but the mesh top just didn't look right on this gown and her hair looked too messy. I do like the silhouette on the dress though. Maybe if the top had been the same material as the bottom she would have ranked higher on my list.

Beyonce Knowles (Elie Saab Haute Couture) - not awful, but the cut on the dress doesn't look quite right on her.
Maggie Gyllenhaal (Lanvin) - the blue color on her is a good choice, but the big shoulder is too much for her small frame and the pattern was not flattering.
Eva Mendes (Christian Dior) - the detail at her hip is just too much
Drew Barrymore (Dior Haute Couture) - I hate to put her on this list, because the dress is just beautiful and looks good on her. But the hair with the dress... it's just too much volume.

Shop It To Me

My blog has been neglected for a few weeks thanks to finals - but I'm done for the semester!

I recently signed up for a website called Shop It To Me. You fill out your brand and size preferences and each week they send items that are on sale. Here are the items I wish I could buy from this week's email:
Nine West Nuncio 13 $59.99 (down from $80)
I like these classic pumps with the faux-croc pattern. Most of my heels are solid colors, so these would mix it up a bit.

Calvin Klein Sadee $79.99 (down from $140)
I realllly want a pair of lace-up booties, and I love this color. But even at the discount, these are still way out of my price range.

Calvin Klein Prairy $159.99 (down from $230)
I love the criss-cross at the bottom with the buckles. But with a 4 1/2'' heel, I would never actually be able to walk in them!

Trend I Like: Bows

Call me childish, but I've always loved bows. They're so girly and fun, and I was excited to see them looking pretty on the runway:

3.1 Phillip Lim

Chanel

Chloe

Badgley Mischka

Dsquared

Isaac Mizrahi

Marchesa

My First Award

I was very excited today when I was checking one of my favorite blogs, Domestic Sophisticate, and saw that I was given this award:

I would like to pass it onto 5 gals whose blogs I enjoy checking daily for their outfit inspiration. Maybe I will post outfits of my own one day. Until then, these are some of my favorites.

What I Wore Today

Celebrity Style: Jennifer Aniston

I love Jennifer Aniston's style. She seems to stick to the basics for the most part, and her outfits fit my style of comfortable and cute.

Thrift Store Find

I've never been big on thrift stores before, but after reading some blogs on great finds, I decided to give it a try. Yesterday my fiance and I went to a Goodwill, but I didn't have much luck. I ended up with one cardigan. Today I decided to try a thrift shop in a different town - and found some amazing deals. I ended up buying 5 pieces, for just $8.20 - amazing. My best find of the day was this Oscar de la Renta jacket for 95 cents. Maybe it's not real?

Unfortunately, my camera is kind of old and I have no timer setting - so I tried both in front of the mirror and taking it myself, neither came out great. Ignore what I'm wearing underneath, I just threw it on over the sweater I wore out today. I also took a close up of the pattern (and yes, the label too...). I also purchased a navy Petite Sophisticate jacket w/ a belted waist, a Merona grey long-sleeve t-shirt, a navy blue skirt w/ white polka dots and a light blue NY & Co. button down shirt. I'm feeling happy after a successful day!

Hats I Love

I've never been much of a hat person, but I would definitely wear these:

Banana Republic ($39)

Anthropologie ($38)

My Closet: Grey Pumps

Okay, so I'm really slacking... I still haven't taken pictures of my new purchases. But I did find a picture online of another pair of shoes I bought! These are Isaac Mizrahi for Target Angel Pumps. Originally $32.99, I found them on sale for $16.48.

It's Cold Outside

I wish I had more options when it comes to coats. I have a black pea coat from Petite Sophisticate that is my standard. Here are a few I have my eye on.

This Anthropologie Dear Watson Coat ($188) would look really cute over a dress, with tights. I'm not sure about the length of the sleeves though - I've never been a fan of the 3/4 look when it comes to coats.

Coach Jacket ($498) - probably my favorite of this post!

I like the color of this Donatella Swing Coat ($154, Macys), but I'm pretty sure I'm too short to wear a swing coat like this. I love how they look on my taller friends though!

Kenneth Cole Reaction Refined Wool Pea Coat ($150, Macys) - because I will never get sick of the classic pea coat. I just want some choice in color.
